Ronan Oertzen, Pro Surfer and Surf Seeds LIFE RIDER

Ronan Oertzen Biography

I have been surfing since the summer of 2003 and I am a competitive person who likes to make people proud when I surf. I always keep pushing myself to achieve the best that I can I just love to surf and compete. I entered my first event after only six months and came 2nd (Quiksilver Groms).

I was then asked to attend squad training for the Irish National Team in 2004. My future ambition is to become a professional surfer and to be on the BPSA, EPST and then the WQS in Europe and beyond to be able to promote my sponsors and to surf alongside my idols, such as Rob Machado, the most stylish surfer in the world and Kelly. When I am not surfing, I am training to improve my surfing.

My ambition for the moment is to remain on the Irish Squad and to be on the team in both the Europeans and the Worlds Championships. In 2006 I went to the Euro Juniors as a judge and to compete at the World Juniors, I learned a lot from that experience, as I know what gets the points in contests. This year I competed in Morocco at the Euro Juniors and came 9th.

When I finish school in 2009 I will do the BPSA, EPSA and then work my way up to the WQS. I will set a certain amount of time to achieve theses goals. I will continue third level education, studying personal training and nutrition and later become a high performance coach for the best up and coming surfers.
